Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
My trial-filled morning was fraught with frustrations over my less than perfect handling of situations.
After the kids settled to do their schoolwork, I headed over to a brand new start with BSF – Bible Study Fellowship. On a side note, I highly recommend finding a BSF close-by to attend.
In the study of Romans chapter 1, something stood out to me – Clothed in His righteousness. God is so good! I truly needed that word again. I struggled to be like Jesus, instead of resting in the fact that I am clothed in His righteousness.
A weight of trying so hard lifted off my shoulders as I rested in Jesus who covers me. It’s true, I’ll never be good enough, but resting in His goodness there is joy.
My “I don’t measure up” attitude drastically changed. As my gaze refocused to Jesus, all my insufficiencies blurred.
After BSF I ran to the grocery store. My face shone as I looked upon the Lord. A man asked me, “what are you smiling about?”. Praise God I was ready to tell him the reason for my joy!
Todays verse highlights righteousness comes by faith and not works. We can’t do anything to make ourselves right with Father, God. Jesus did it all.
The simplicity of the gospel sometimes slips away from us, as we strive to better ourselves. Let’s look to Jesus and rest in Him, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:1-3)
As I drove home the Lord played “Live Like You’re Loved” by Hawk Nelson. Does the Lord narrate your day also? Seek Him, my friends! He is a tall glass of water in our parched day!
Dear Jesus, thank-You for clothing us in Your righteousness. Let us rest in Your goodness, not our own efforts. We are right with Father through Your finished work on the Cross, Lord Jesus. Let joy and contentment fill our hearts . ~Amen
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
