Proverbs 20:11 Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure, and whether it is right.
As I head into the laundry room, my youngest runs in behind me. “Mamma, I want to help you”, she shouts. She’s the same one who makes sure she comes to the store with me whenever I leave the house. This little sweet heart even loves cleaning the toilet bowl with the brush!
How precious is the help of a little one! I marvel at her joy to serve. “You’re my good helper”, I encourage.
I’m totally capable of completing the laundry and other menial tasks by myself. However, I just love her eagerness to help! Even though it’s slower, I make sure I always ask if she’d like to help me before a task.
It often makes me think of how Our Father must love us helping Him! More than anyone, God is all powerful at fulfilling His plans, drawing people to Himself with His love. He gives dreams and visions. Yet He chooses to use us, imperfect as we are, but perfectly loved by Him. He tells us to love each other, serve each other, and give like we’re giving to Him.
Today’s verse describes how our actions show our motives. Though I don’t know my daughter’s heart for sure, it would seem she’s usually motivated by how good it feels to help me out.
There’s one phrase I yearn to hear from My Heavenly Father when I get to see Him one day, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
There’s something endearingly beautiful about an eager little helper. Imagine the Joy of Our Father when we serve Him by serving others. There’s no task too small.
Galatians 6:9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Dear Jesus, You are well worth our efforts towards Your kingdom. Renew a childlike eagerness to help others. You are Our Prize, Our Very Great Reward! ~Amen!
The Faith of a Child is beautiful!
