Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
As we drove home from school, I asked my youngest which she would prefer: a muffin or a pear. She responded that she wanted a snack at home. As I bit into the pear, I exclaimed how juicy and pleasant it was. She promptly became jealous and said, “Actually mamma, can I have that pear?
I passed it to her and she devoured every bite. She even mentioned to me how the sweetness stuck around her lips. “Yum!”, she proclaimed as the goodness lingered.
Our church family will tell you, my muffins are good! My homemade treat however, had NOTHING on the sumptuousness of the juicy pear.
‘Snack Pack from God’ our kids and I call fruit. Such a wonderful pre-wrapped compostable package, containing fresh fruit. What could be better!
Let’s ponder for a moment how the Lord enjoys us, when we display the fruit of the Spirit. A little kind word – a cherry. Sharing – each bite a grape. Patience – the ripest mango at the peak of season.
I sometimes forget, all this fruit and more is freely available by the Holy Spirit. (John 1:16, Ephesians 3:19) So let us walk according to the Spirit always, praying that He may increase, and we may decrease. (Ephesians 5:16, John 3:30)
Holy Spirit, ‘Pass the fruit please!’ — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Holy Spirit, fill us with all Your fruit which You so freely and generously share. Bearing this fruit, let us be delightful to You. Increase in us, to the praise of Your glory. ~Amen.
Let’s bear more fruit by being Connected to the True Vine”
