Our Way or The Way

Reading Time: 2 minutes

John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Feeling immensely discouraged by something I messed up on, I jumped in the car for school pickup. Seeking the Lord right beforehand, He helped me enter more fully into surrender. The lyrics of a song popping into my head comforted me. I was sick of doing things my own way. My way only causes trouble and painful lessons.

As soon as I turned the ignition, that exact song played at the first chorus. “Your world’s not falling apart it’s falling into shape”, as if the Lord spoke directly to my downtrodden heart. My prayer at that moment was, “Hold me Lord, for I feel like I’m slipping”. He already had me. His strong hands were in full control. We’re struggling with no avail when we’re not following.

I’m sure you’ve experienced similar personal encouragement from the Lord. He’s so gracious, enabling us more easily to humbly accept the lesson He’s teaching us.

I marvel at the Lord revealing His hand at work from the grandest plan of our salvation, to the minute detail of our lives.

Our God is not a God who rubs our failures in our face. He firmly picks us back up and sets us back along the straight and narrow road.

Todays key verse declares God’s Son, Jesus, to be the ONLY way. Yes, Jesus is the only way of salvation from sin. Surrender is not only necessary at the cross, but each moment. We need to stop struggling and let Him have His way.

Dear Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. Enable me to walk in You. Enable me by Your Spirit to surrender my will to Yours. ~Amen
