Walk By Faith – Path of Salvation

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name [but Jesus] under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

The following are some thoughts on how to apply walking by faith,
pertaining to Salvation.
If you haven’t already, read Walk By Faith – ‘Faith’ like a Tree first.

There were many years as an early Christian that I wondered if I was saved. “I don’t feel saved”, is combatted with trusting that “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

A close Christian friend of mine once said, “Honey, if you’re worried that you’re not saved, that means you’re saved. Because people who don’t believe in Jesus, don’t worry about things like that.” She highlighted to me, the difference between conviction and condemnation. Conviction is of the Holy Spirit leading you to do or not do something, not to gain salvation but because He indwells the believer. Condemnation is the enemy whispering that he still has an eternal grip on you, no matter what you do or don’t do.

As today’s verse says, Jesus is the only name who can save. On our own we can never earn our way to God. We trust that Jesus is, “the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through” him! (John 14:6)

We stand strong in confidence of what Christ accomplishes for us. God no longer sees us, but we are clothed in Christ – the beloved, accepted, chosen, begotten Son of God, who shed His blood for us. (Galatians 3:27, Romans 13:14,  Romans 9:14, Hebrews 10:19, Revelation 7:14, Ephesians 1:6 NKJV)

Still having feelings of doubt? Doubt is pesky, let’s swat it!
Ephesians 6:10-20, describes the full armor of God. Jesus Himself is the Armor.
By His strength we stand;

  • saved and forgiven (Helmet of Salvation);
  • in truth (Belt of Truth);
  • washed clean by His righteousness (Breastplate of Righteousness);
  • ready to wage spiritual warfare (Sword of the Spirit);
  • and ready to share the gospel.  (Sandals of the gospel)

Feelings can be deceptive. We stand on truth not perception nor experiences. On this Lloyd-Jones wrote: “Thank God for experiences, but do not rely on them. You do not put on the ‘breastplate of experiences’, you put on the breastplate of ‘righteousness.’ ”

True! We don’t save ourselves, by being good enough for God. Only God saves us, by gifting His perfection to us. In Christ we acquire His righteousness. A righteousness that is accomplished from start to finish by faith. (Romans 1:17) We are saved by grace through faith. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Praise God, faith is not subject to us having great faith, but is solely reliant on the Object of our faith — Jesus.

Heavenly Father, thank-You for salvation by grace through faith in what Jesus finished for me. Enable me to walk with this full assurance of salvation, knowing You, Jesus, accomplish it from start to finish. Stir in me, right response to this great forgiveness and grace which You’ve freely given me. ~Amen
