Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.(NLT)
As I anticipated the first face-to-face meeting with the kind ladies I had been conversing with, the car keys were evading me. I prayed to the Lord to help me find them, as is usually the case when I loose something. Time was ticking by, and my search was turning up nothing. I knew it was God’s will for me to register in this new adventure for my daughter and I. So, I took it to Him again, “Lord I know our choice for this was to honor you. If it is your will, please help me find my keys.”
Finally after tearing up the usual hiding places, I headed out the house to the garage in newfound confidence, as I prayed, “Lord, only You can bring me the keys, in Jesus’ name.”
There, walking up the driveway, came the USPS lady with my keys in hand, asking if I’d lost them. Apparently my children had left them in the mailbox as they’d thoughtfully checked the mail for me earlier that afternoon.
I thanked her with the most genuineness of greeting, as I praised the name of the Lord.
After arriving at the meeting to register my daughter, I had a chance to share what the Lord had just done for me.
One of the ladies and I enjoyed the most blessed of fellowship moments in the Lord, as she echoed my story with one of when she was on a beach somewhere. After combing all over the sand with a team of people for hours, she let out a ‘help me find my keys’ prayer. As she turned around, there they were, right there in the sand.
My friend, God is so great, and wants us to fully rely on Him. He wants more of our trust, in every part of our lives. I just love how He uses the little things to grow our faith, and remind us of who He is. Our provider and loving Father who is fully in control.
If He returns to us the little things when we pray, how much more then will He return those who are lost to Himself when we intercede for them!
What have you lost lately that you need to ask Jesus to help you find?
Dear Jesus, whether it’s my keys, my joy or my hope that I’ve misplaced lately, I know that it’s in your hands. In your will and timing, you will return the things I need, and restore the eternal gifts that you promise to me. – Amen
